It's all in the lungs

There will be no news today. Ron is still unable to support his own breath so they have to leave the tube in for now. They have changed sedation, pulled back on one (Adavan) and added one for delirium so it will be faster to bring him round tomorrow to make another attempt. He has to be awake enough to obey commands and cough so he isn't at risk of suffocating before they can take him off the ventiltor. The Catch 22 is that when he starts to reach consciousness, he goes ballistic to get the tube out of his throat, which sends his blood pressure, heart rate and breathing soaring. The only solution is more sedation! If only he would cooperate...

Meanwhile, he is getting great care. I am scrambling to put some home support in place next week, last week before school ends for the holiday. Many friends have volunteered to give up valuable December time to be there for Ari and David, we are blessed.

More tomorrow.

Hi Carol! Our thoughts and prayers are all with YOU and RON right now. Please ask for help and we'll be happy to do whatever it takes! Hoping for good news tomorrow...

Carol, Shiloh just saw your Facebook message and called me. I should have twigged. There would scarcely be 3 days in a row that Ron doesn't forward an item of interest from the net. I nearly phoned immediately but its late there and I am a bit emotional at this news. I so love that guy. Dear Lord give us those new bodies that are not vulnerable to all this. Please keep the news up. I'll be glued to this blog. Love to you, David and Ariella. May God give you special strength and courage. And prayers, oh yes, count on it.

Carol, Wow. We had no idea. We will be praying for strength and courage for you and healing and steady recovery for Ron. If there is anything we can do to help out here with the kids, let us know. Obviously we are up and down the street regularly past your house. Cooking, laundry, transportation, whatever we can do to help ease your mind with things at home. We will watch for updates, but know in the mean time you are both in our prayers.
